VNC Server Unauthenticated Access

hi guys

Suse 10 SP2

Security guys run an app called Nessus for vulnerabilities and they found this one on my linux

VNC Server Unauthenticated Access

and I really don't know what they mean...

I can update vnc on these servers but there is not guarantee this will fix the issue and the other option is as stated in the articles

Solution :
Disable the No Authentication security type.

http://www.nessus.org/plugins/index....ingle&id=26925

VNC Version
Code:
# rpm -qa | grep vnc
xorg-x11-Xvnc-6.9.0-50.58
tightvnc-1.2.9-201.17
According to this I sould update xorg-x11-Xvnc and tightvnc packages? if it were the case?

thanks a lot

Hi,

I think your vncserver runs without a password set.
If vnc is not required to be up and running on your server, why not just shut vncserver down or stop the vncserver and set it up with password?
