vnc question on suse9
Ok, I have a couple of questions on vnc. First, is there an easy way to tell what version is installed. Second, On suse9, both vnc and tightvnd are installed. When I run vncserver, i think that realvnc is the one running, i want to run tightvnc. It seems like both of them run with vncserver. If I try to remove realvnc from my install, it says that tightvnc will also be removed. Is there a way around this?
Excuse my ignorance, but I am just trying to muddle my way through this. So far, so good. Thanks for any help. |
Welcome to LQ.
It would seem funny that one would uninstall the other. My suggesstion is just remove both then download and install the latest version from http://www.tightvnc.com That should sort your version out too. |
Ok, I did that. Everything is removed. Now when I try to install the tightvnc rpm, I get a msg about can't find sbin/service. Is this strictly a Red Hat thing? If so, is there any way to install this rpm on suse?
Thanks |
The only rpms are for redhat 7.x - just use the source instead.
