VNC - grey rootweave when monitor not connected
Hi All,
I've got a lot of great information from these forums since I started dabbling with Linux. Unfortunately I can't find the answer to this one:
I have opensuse 10.3 installed on a PC that I run headerless in a corner of my garage. I do a standard install and then unplug the peripherals and leave just the power and network cable attached. I previously did this with Mandriva without any problems.
While I can connect fine to the Gnome desktop via VNC when the monitor is attached, as soon as I boot without I get the black cross and rootweave background. I'm assuming that Gnome is failing to start.
I'm running VNC via xinetd on port 5901. This uses my user id - but I'm not sure where the service picks up it's start-up config.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Neil
