I'm really new with Linux, I'm using the VMware with Fedora 6 which I downloaded from www.thoughtpolice.co.uk/vmware.
I've followed the instructions according to this website (that's because I'm going to use a Gumstix micro controller) http://docwiki.gumstix.org/index.php...oot_on_Windows.

While trying to install updates and the packages them mention in the last link like autoconf for example a message pops " cannot find a valid baseurl for repo update". I found lots of links for that problem but because I'm not familiar with the commands of Linux yet I can't figure out how to solve this problem and install those packages.

Updating Fedora 6 to include all of its available updates isn't going to work (nor will updating it provide a working environment you will safely expose to a public network) as Fedora 6 is EOL'ed. With their ultra fast release schedule they're at 11 now so that's what you should install.
