Unhappy vmware tools install

hello
i have a system running Redhat 9.0 , when i try to install vmware tools it installs but when tries to configure , it can't find gcc and linux kernel headers ( kernel 2.4 ) .
i know it is old but i have to use redhat 9.0 there is a software on it that can't run on any other system ( i tried fedora and centos and RHEL ) .
gcc was 3.2 and i updated it to 3.4.6 , but still no help.
can any one shed light on this ?

What is the software that can only be run on RedHat 9? Maybe there are some alternatives?

So gcc is installed, and also the kernel headers? But when you use ./configure to build from the source, you get errors that it can't find gcc?

Get the ISOs from RH's archive: http://archive.download.redhat.com/p...9/en/iso/i386/ and install compiler, kernel and -devel libraries from there.

i have installed every thing from gcc to kernel header from iso images.
there is no available alternative to that application , because it is written specially for hardware using XIG ( accelerated-X and xsvc and CDE ).
i read in vmware forums that if i install libglib2.0 it solves the problem but i can't find any source on that .
only debian package i found with searching and debian package can't be installed on redhat .

I think you should unpack the vmware tools archive and manually compile each item, making sure you catch stdout / stderr to a log file to help diagnose things.

In that case you'll have to look for vmware-config.pl
