VMware-server install Fedora build version error

I am trying to install vmware-server on an EC2 instance of fedora.
At first I got a "Setup is unable to find the "gcc" program on your machine." error, so I ran "Yum install gcc"
Now the install gets past that first error and gives me...

Quote:
Your kernel was built with "gcc" version "4.0.1", while you are trying to use "/usr/bin/gcc" version "4.0.2". This configuration is not recommended and VMware Server may crash if you'll continue. Please try to use exactly same compiler as one used for building your kernel. Do you want to go with compiler "/usr/bin/gcc" version "4.0.2" anyway?
Is there a way I can update my kernel?

Lightbulb Vmware Server + RPM/package requirements

Ah, the good old days.

My recommendation to you would be to start from scratch. What version of Fedora are you using?

Use this guide to get your setup going: http://www.markwilson.co.uk/blog/200...-on-fedora.htm

I only recommend starting from scratch because each version of the required RPMS must be the same or else you will get failed installs. If you install all of the components at the same time you should get the correct versions which will have all of the correct and matching libraries/dependencies.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
