rpm -Uvh http://pkgs.repoforge.org/rpmforge-r...l5.rf.i386.rpm
OR
rpm -Uvh http://pkgs.repoforge.org/rpmforge-r....rf.x86_64.rpm

yum install vlc

I would generally wonder why you are looking at watching videos on a server OS, should you not be using a more appropriate OS like Ubuntu?

VLC

Hi,
Why are you looking for having VLC on Server OS...Please find the link below of the script which makes you to install vlc. One thing you should make a note is, vlc runs only on a normal user. root cannot run any files

No step by step is possible. One method only : See post # 2.

That's the only way to get the 39 dependencies right.

Koshal

also install the yum plugin " yum-priorities" and set "rpmforge" to a lower number
That way you do not overwrite CRITICAL RHEL SYSTEM FILES with incompatible versions
