VLC can not play mp4 in Slackware 14.0


I install vlc and every requirements from Slackbuild.org using sbopkg.

vlc can play mp3, but vlc can not play mp4. it say this message below...

no way? if so I would say that bad, suck, poor.......

My suggestion is get the precompiled version generated by Eric, available for 13.37 or 14.0 in both 32bit and 64bit.

may be you need to install ffmpeg for codecs

included mplayer/xine player plays mp4 files just fine for me.

I removed vlc_SBo and installed precompiled vlc from the link at second post of this thread.
Now, vlc can play mp3 n mp4. So, it is resolved now.
thz guys.

btw, I manually downloaded and installed ffmpeg,
though I was not sure it was working properly or not.
however, my vlc is working happily now after I replaced vlc_SBo with precompiled vlc.
so this means that my ffmpeg is ok.
