Virtualbox - unable to ping!

Hi,

I have Windows Server 2008 host and installed Debian guest on it using Virtualbox but I can't ping from host to guest nor guest to host. I have static IP on both host (192.168.1.1) and guest (192.168.1.2)

Thanks,
Jassim

Change the Network adapter to Bridge Adapter. In the name field choose your Network like eth0 or Wlan...
This should work...
Change firewall setting if they allows ping..

And yes you can block pinging by firewall... google it and You can find a way to block ping. Usually its ON by default but you can manage to block it. because ping can Cause you DDOS attack. Because for every Ping, your Server has to give reply. This is what usually done in DDOS.

The ICMP setting controls whether or not a machine allows or responds to pings.
