Virtual PC 2007 and slackware 12.0 - KDE
Hello everybody,
I hope to be in the right forum. First time caller and really newbie on Linux so be cool/patient/indulgent…. I’m deseperatly trying to install Slackware 12.0 using virtual PC2007 environment. Installation is fine, (full install to avoid missing parts) but problem begins when I try to setup KDE DESKTOP/graphical environment. I’m not able to make it works !!! Depending on thousand configurations tried, either the graphic interface is coming but mouse is not working, or I can’t start graphical environment and get errors. I’ve tried running : xorgconfig xorgcfg -textmode xwmconfig and selecting KDE or whatever. Actually, when I start X, I’ve an error (EE) No drivers available or (EE) no screen found. I understand that I’m not able to setup/find the correct conf.org configuration. (I'm maybe wrong) (From Virtual PC help) Virtual PC emulates graphic card as follow: S3 Trio 32/64 PCI with 8 MB Video RAM And I selected mouse in “Auto” mode (or P/S2) As hardware devices are all the same and emulated by Virtual PC, I’m guessing if somebody as already done the correct configuration to share the /etc/X11/conf.org file. Any and all helps/suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance, |
Ok, I'm now working with vmWARE player, quite easy to install....
Virtual PC 2007 is fine for Windows environment...Not yet done for Linux (at least slackware 12.0) |
