viewing mpeg problem

I have just downloaded an mpeg movie from punkrockvids.com. Then, when i want to see the videoclip, it display this error message:

Couldn't display "/home/jo/Desktop/MCS-My_Fav_Acc(live)PRV.mpg".

Why can't i view mpeg videoclips?

I am using Fedora Core 3 and Helix media player.

Helix Player doesn't have the required codecs for playing mpeg files due to licensing issues. It only plays real formats as well as free and opensource media types. If you want full multimedia capabilities, then use an application like xine or mplayer with win3 codecs.

open a terminal (konsole, gnome-terminal or xterm) and type:
Code:
$ su
(type the password and press enter)
$ rpm -i "/path/to/rpm/you/have/downloaded"
You will need the win32codecs. You can find these at http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...050412.tar.bz2
Download and unpack it into /usr/lib/win32. This directory will probably not exist yet. Again in a terminal:
Code:
$ su
$ mkdir /usr/lib/win32
$ cd /usr/lib/win32
$ wget http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...050412.tar.bz2
$ tar jxvf all-20050412.tar.bz2
$ rm all-20050412.tar.bz2
et voila!
