view active vsftpd users
 

Hi. I am trying to find a way view which ftp accounts (if any) are currently connected to my FTP server. I am using vsftpd on Fedora 7. So far, I am just looking in the /var/log/xferlog and looking at the latest timestamp. But this method isn't exact since I can't tell if a transfer is still in complete or still in the middle of downloading a group of files. Is there any way to get additional connection information?

Perhaps you would do well if you turn on debug logging for the ftp sever. However, you would need to run log watch to keep the size of the log files under control.
