Video on Linux

Looking to play a sony video, filename extension is "mts" in Linux. Actually I want to make a DVD out of it so that it can be played in a DVD player. Excuse that word "sony".

video issue

I would suggest trying zamzar.com, which is an online video converter. Mplayer and vlc can also play it IF they have the codecs.

What you convert it to exactly depends on what your DVD player knows how to read.

I'd start by trying to convert it to popular formats. MP4, avi, flv or the DVD vob type of file are examples. 3GP might work too, but the quality is inferior IMO.

try mplayer
i use the QT4 gui " SMplayer" as my default "video" player
VLC for store bought dvd's

then add the ALL codec package

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

"all-20110131.tar.bz2"
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/

but some / most distros are using the gstreemer/xine libs for mplayer

see your package manager
