video cutter for linux
dear gurus,
can someone advise is there any video cutter software open source available. i found for audiocity for audio files. let say i have 15minute movie file, i want to split into 3 files of each 3 minutes. can we do it with this any software.
which is easy to use also.

Avidemux is probably the most user friendly. If you are using Ubuntu it is in the repos. Not sure if there is a rpm obtainable otherwise you may have to compile it from source. It is designed for use with .avi files.

you can get a liveDVD from the AVLinux 3 project. works great even from the liveDVD.

I agree with uncle-c , Avidemux. I've tried Cinerella and found it has a steep learning curve. I do all kinds of things using Avidemux and it's pretty intuitive to use. I love it.

Of all the apps mentioned above, Kino has the easiest and most intuitive splitting function.

One more quick note on splitting video here - I hadn't used avidemux before to split files, but it turns out it's quite easy and reliable (as long as you're working with files in a format avidemux can handle; variations on avi). Check out this short tutorial:
