video codecs


hi all

any one can advise me where i can find a video codecs for al inux and iam usenig mandrake 9.1 plzzz

look i have tried to make it work on xine it gave me aerror msg an say there is no unsupported codecs and i tried it on kaboodle and gave me sound without any video apper :S

Which video format are you trying to read.
What is the extension?
You might need :

avi is a container so I don't know what the format is. Download all the codecs and you should be fine.

Okay. Just download this file
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...050412.tar.bz2
Open konsole, switch to root
Code:
tar -xvjf essential-20050412.tar.bz2
mkdir /usr/lib/win32/
cp essential-20050412/* /usr/lib/win32/ -v
Now you can play *.avi files with your favourite player.
