Video Card Not Supported by configxf86

I recently got my first Linux distro: PCLinuxOS 2K4. When I stuck in the boot CD it booted to the bash prompt. I though it was supposed to automatically configure KDE, but apprently I needed to configure X by myself. I typed "configxf86" and followed the steps.

When I got to the part that involved video cards, I ran into a problem. My video card wasn't on the list. I'm running an ATI Radeon 9800 SE. How do I get support for this?

Is there any better way to configure X Free 86 and/or KDE without doing it from command prompt?

Thanks,

Well, the only thing you can do, as far as I know, is to re-run the xfreeconfig thing and choose a generic card. Maybe they provide some ATI generic drivers of some sort? Otherwise, put a card that is more "similar" to yours as amount of Video Ram, manufacture, etc. Using an ordinary screen resolution (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and etc) might help. The only true good thing you've to do is to download and install the official drivers from ATI to your card, otherwise you won't be able to use your card at max, as 3D acceleration. I don't have an ATI myself so I won't be able to help you .

Side note though: you will really need to get used to the command line
