Did you made a sound card configuration test, if you hear a guitar sond you have a well configured sond card and I think you only have to install the plugin for the mp3.
You can search it in the xmms page http:\\www.xmms.org\
Look at VIA 's site they have upgraded drivers there that may be of help. even if you dont install them the readme that should be with them may be of help.
try #unzip VIA RH8.0.Audio.Driver.ver.0.8A.gz or gunzip the same I think the unzip command works for everything but dont quote me on that gunzip should work. But dont quyote me on that either. If it don't someone will be along soon enough to point out my folly
I downloaded the file VIA.RH8.0.Audio.Driver.ver.0.8A.gz and gunzipped it, but I don't know what to do with this file, i.e. how to install it, etc. Anyone know what to do?
I think ive worked out how to do it. You have to install alsa. but you need the full kernel/source i have red hat 8 . i looked in /usr/src/redhat but its empty
How can Install the source to that location??
or even install the source to my computer
help would be apreciated. Ive only been using Linux for 3 days now
