Unhappy VERY SLOW system after kernel upgrade, mdk 10.0 350Mhz cpu

Hello, i have just upgraded my kernel to 2.6 and my system seems to be sending messgaes thrugh treakle, i.e. it is VERY slow. It was running ok with 2.4 kernel but now it is just s........o.............s..............l.....................o............................w.......
any ideas?

I originaly tryed to upgrade to get my modem to work, but now it says it won't do this kernel, and it needs the source and i don't have this for 2.4.

(350Mhz AMD CPU - cdrom - floppy - onboard SIS gfx/sound etc. - mouse - keyboard)

How many memory do you have?
Did you upgraded only the kernel or everything?

If you can take more memory, ^60MB is too few.

You don't need to have 2.6 kernel to work w this modem, and I think for your hardware is better to try for ex. Mandrake 9.1 it's a good version of this excellent distribution.

Take a look at:

ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-suppo...ENG/readme.txt

If you have more questions don't hesitate ask!

hey, believe me, i have scoured the net for 2.6 drivers! and why go back to 9.1 if i have 10? 10 seems to work much nicer than 9.1 (i had this before upgrading from a linuxFormat Coverdisk) Intel were suposedly releasing new drivers last month but have not.
