Very Newbie question


Although i'm not a newbie per say--i've been using linux now for about 2 months. Started with Fedora 1-then 4 then tried Ubuntu and now i'm using Mandrive(which i like very much)and i have read 3 or 4 books. And one question i have un answered is--What does GNU stand for

..

GNU means GNU's Not Unix (a recursive acronym). Recursive means that the acronym refers to itself again. The GNU Project was launched by Richard Stallman in 1983 to build a free operating system.
