very basic samba questions
 
i want to use samba with win 98 but all ive seen is stuff for NT so is it compatible with that? also is samba supposed to be installed on windows and linux or just linux or both...if it needs to be on windows too then where am i to find that since all i am seeing are rpm and .tgz source files

Samba will work very well with a Windows 98 Client accessing it. In fact 98 was the least trouble to me when setting up a Linux/ Samba server for 50 + users.

My advice is to use the O'Reilly Samba book. Suse 8 came with this book in HTML format, and it made it very clearcut.
