Version Running

How do I check the version of Linux running on my box?
I was trying to install a HP printer and found out I have to download some packages, and in order to make a proper installation I need to know what version of Mandrake I'm running. I know it's Mandrake 10, but I don't know if it's Community or Official...????

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

Other distros maintain a file like
e.g.
/etc/slackware-version
/etc/redhat-release

Maybe MKD (being a RH spawn) has kept that
habit up?

The file is /etc/mandrake-release
