Version of Linux that works with Wireless easily
Is there a version of Linux that works with wireless internet right away without any need for configuration. I have tried to get ndiswrapper to work with Mandrake for a few days now and have had no luck I simply am lost as to what to do. Is there a simple way, I tried to instructions but I can get to the source directory or unzip or something, I am doing something wrong and I can get it right despite having put in many hours of effort. I am wondering if there is any version that works right away with wireless internet without any need for difficult installation. I guess I am just not as computer savy as I thought. Thank you for the time and effort.

Although I can't confirm this personally, it looks like the 5.10 version of Ubuntu (official release due out ~ 2005-10-13) may 'just work' with WiFi. There's a pre-release ISO available @ their website.

latest ubuntu or kubuntu had no trouble with my ipw2200 intel wifi thingy. Full auto install & setup..sweeeeeeet.
Debian or Slack or SuSe will all need shades of tweaking to get it right although it's litt;e more than uploading firmware in most cases or maybe a modprobe ipw2200 |
It is pretty easy, for new stuff go for the newest Linux distribution and you have the best chance it works.
Suse 10 would be my choice, but it doesn't come free |
Wireless is a bit fishy with Linux, a lot of chipset manufactures have not made a Linux driver.
What kind of card do you have? |
