Heh, well I was at a lan of a friends today and he happened to have verizon dsl, as did I back a few months ago so I know that it'll connect easy as pie. However, to activate the DSL you will need to have a windows installation to run the program, enter your name and password that they will give you and you'll be good to go.

Although I really don't know if ppoe means anything other then plain old direct connection to the internet. I have never had a problem with slackware, however with mandrake and it's annoying, but quick, config GUIs it changed my hostname but you _may_ be able to change it back to whatever you want.

I have Verizon DSL and a Fedora Core 1 box.

Number one, you want to connect via the ethernet port on the DSL modem, not the USB port.

Set the box for DHCP and it should work, provided that you have installed the libraries for PPPOE that Verizon uses.

If you did a "full" install of Fedora, everything is installed and will boot properly.

This worked fine for me.

hi all,
I too have a sort of similar problem, the only difference is that when i ping
any site like yahoo.com, i can see that packets are being sent(it also resolves yahoo's address) but i see no packets being recieved. when i open
a browser and go to any site it takes me back to verizon site.
any help here would be greatly appreciated

thank you.
