It's usually just /dev/cdrom - what is the problem? There should also be an "Access CDROM" icon on the desktop.

im not sure about vector...but the moutn command should be universal

mount /dev/cdrom -t (filesystem [sometimes not necessary]) /mnt/cdrom

or if vector doestn have /dev/cdrom

mount /dev/hd(letter for drive) -t (see above) /mnt/cdrom

you may need to make /mnt/cdrom with the mkdir command or you can moutn it at another file

then use /dev/cdwriter instead of /dev/cdrom everything else stays the same so something like this

mount /dev/cdwriter /mnt/cdwriter

i dont think you should need the filesystem for mounting a cd

I hear it's like /dev/hdc or whatever your disk assignment is (by IDE assignment--secondary slave is hdd). Have you tried mounting it that way?

Correct:
$ mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdwriter
