/var/log/messages _flooded_ with 'SCSI ioctl' warnings

Hello, I am using a 2.6.x kernel on Gentoo, and this message is _flooding_ my /var/log/messages file. When I say flooding, I mean like 100MB overnight.

Quote:
Dec 12 03:01:54 tcm program 3dmd is using a deprecated SCSI ioctl, please convert it to SG_IO
Now, I can't really do much to fix the '3dmd' deamon because it is provided (binary only) by 3ware to manage/monitor my 3ware RAID card.

What I would like to know is if there is an easy way to get syslog to filter out these messages?

Or should I hack the kernel source so it doesn't generate these warnings?

What do you think would be the easiest way to take care of this?

Grep says that these kernel source files contain the print. It would be safe to just comment these lines and then recompile right?

Code:
drivers/scsi/scsi_ioctl.c:
   printk(KERN_WARNING "program %s is using a deprecated SCSI ioctl, please convert it to SG_IO\n", current->comm);
drivers/block/scsi_ioctl.c:
   printk(KERN_WARNING "program %s is using a deprecated SCSI ioctl, please convert it to SG_IO\n", current->comm);

Just in case anyone wants to know, commenting those lines seems to have taken care of the problem.
