v0.100 (c) david jone

Hi,
as you guessed it, I am a newbie. I have installed fedora core 2 and 3 on a variety of machines without any problems before (apart from the odd technical aspect).

the problem I am facing is the
linux agpgart interface v0.100(c) david jones

and nothing following after that. I thought it might have been the ram computer chip, so I changed them around but it appeared still.

I used three different copies of fedora core 3 and it still appeared on all of them.

Thank you for your guidance.
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

And welcome to LQ!

Now, to be able to assess stuff like that we need
more input, e.g the hardware (Mobo, GFX card, ...)

Cheers,
Tink

agpgart interface v0.100 (c) david jone

Thank you Tinkster,

the machine I am working with this time is a NEC previously had windows 98. It had a HD of 4gb, but I bought a Hitachi 40GB. Because it only had 12ram (i think), I also purchased a 256RAM (no brand name - pqi)
motherboard is NEC all the parts are original parts from NEC.

I don't know how to give you more info, is there something I should do when I turn on the computer? I tried to enter the bios, but no success.

thank you for more advice.

Chances are the thing is so old it doesn't have agp,
and maybe the agp detection routines are not up to
that ... try to pass noagp as a parameter to the grub.

Cheers,
Tink

Sorry, I don't use grub, am thus not familiar with it ... but have a look
here:
http://www.google.co.nz/linux?hl=en&...a=lr%3Dlang_en

I'm sure you'll be able to find something that makes sense in
one of the first 10 links ...

v0.100 (c) dave jones

Sorry I forgot to mention that there is nothing on the harddrive. It is new and there are no software installed on the machine.

I am trying to install FC3 directly from a bootable CD. It uncompresses the file but then freezes at the sentence / statement:
linux agpgart interface v0.100 (c) dave jones.

from then on it freezes.
there is also a line (isapnp: no plug and play device found) stated two lines above linux agpgart...

any recommendations?

Well ... it still uses some sort of boot-menu (even running
of CD)? And there's probably more than one option that
you can select ... do you have an entry field for text any-
where, so you can add the same thing to the kernel you
are using during install?

Cheers,
Tink
