USP monted do not disappear from Media

Hi!

Sorry for the question here, but I really do not find anything useful (maybe a lack of knowledge to make a good search).

Every time that I plug a USB pendrive (I have two more pen drive more a PMD HP), all works fine.

When I ask the system to unmont the pen,all work right.

Or I was thinking...

The "name" of the pen drive do not "disappear" from the "Media" folder.
So, when I mount again, it's common to the system add a "underscore" to the name.

Now I have my Media folder full of "names"???

I use OpenSuse 11.1 with gnome. The pendrives are used to transport info between linux and windows machines (Windows XP).

Thanks for a "light" on this

Hya,

I do not use gnome, so I only can guess.

Similar situation happened to me, when
1. user (who mounted) has root privilege, or
2. USB drive is left connected at shutdown.

If incorrect, I apologize.

Happy Penguins!

Hello kaz,

The first possibility I think not, because I never use a pendrive in root mode or with root privilege...

But the second yes. I think that sometimes, I shutdown the machine with the USB pen drive or HD still connected...

I removed the directories entries as root and all is fine now.
I'll take more care next time I have a USB device conected

Thanks for the "light"!

Bye!
(And happy penguins to you too!)
