Most Linux systems these days have CUPS installed, and HP Printers have HPLIP. Couple those with the system-administration tools, and it's very easy to set up a printer and test it. |
Hi,
running linuxmint Olivia 15 wt. cinnamon 64 bit, Ubuntu ver. printer is HP-c1300 on usb. Tried the Mac cd but no joy. I really don't have any idea what to do, what is HPLIB? a libary in the printer, thanks. Bill |
Generally Ubuntu detects printers and does all the setup for you. Go into Ubuntu's Control Center and enter the printer manager and see if you can add it manually. There should be a series of menus where you pick Brand/Series/Model etc.

The Linux Mint forums have lots on how to easily set up printers: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1200 Press "alt-f2" or open a terminal window. Type in "system-config-printer" and press ENTER. Fill in the blanks. Quote:
