using telnet in linux

hey guys,

I want to start using telnet in linux, but I'm not sure how the syntax works for it.. any ideas how I can connect? (just using this method to connect to and play muds, since i cant find a decent mud client)

Generally 'telnet <host> <port>' works

e.g. to connect to a MUD on foo.bar.com port 667:

telnet foo.bar.com 667

Hard to say without knowing what you tried, really :)

Commonly you'd do
telnet <host> [<port>]
where port is optional it it's the default port 23

hmmm.. this doesnt seem to be connecting to the muds.. I either get connection refused.. or it doesnt give anything back at all except trying.. (and i did just try it with windows telnet (yuck) and that can connect just fine)
