Using remote host with postfix installed for my vbulletin forum to send mails
Hello
I m having a vbulletin forum hosted on a linux server where i also installed postfix. Locally everything is workin fine if i'm disabling smtp from the vbulletin email options but i wish to use SMTP now. I don't want to use google because i may get more than the smth google mail limit per day so i want to use my secondary linux vps where i also installed postfix. I've tried to add the second vps ip into smtp field and port 25 but did not worked. I tried to change postfix of the second vps config and instead of localhost i added the 2nd vps ip then tried again but still not working. How can i use the secondary vps that has postfix for my primary server that has vbulletin installed in order to send mails? I want to use the postfix 2nd vps as SMTP for the first server having vbulletin. Thanks in advance |
You need to look at the authentication on your SMTP server. I have had this problem before, where my application cannot send mail due to rely rules ect. The easiest would be to add your primary server's ip as a trusted server in your postfix config.
I presume you have tested your postfix and knows it is working? Have you tried to telnet in from an outside ip and send a mail? This will give you decent debugging information to resolve your problem. |
