Please elaborate what you want to do:Install linux inside windows or install linux in a separate partition to create dual boot system.
Plenty of linux distributions are available, which you can download. Linux Mint, Ubuntu are best for beginners.

Most linux installers can do that without a problem.

I suggest you to download a few livecds first, try them, and then decide which one suits you better.

A good place where to start looking for is distrowatch.com

Some famous distros you could try are ubuntu, mandriva, fedora or suse. There are many more. You shouldn't have any problem to find the sites for these, and anyway in distrowatch you will see all of them listed. From there you can download whatever you want.

If you decide to dual-boot, here's the procedure:

1: Disable page file. Right click My Computer => Properties => Advanced => Performance: Settings => Advanced => Virtual memory: Change => check No paging file => click Set => OK => OK => OK

2: Reboot.

3: Defragment, more than once if necessary.

4: Resize. Use partitioning software on any live Linux CD or DVD. Leave unallocated space. Use actual installation CD or DVD to create and format Linux partitions.

5: Restore page file.

6: Restart with whatever distro CD or DVD you choose.
Good Luck.

what do you mean by how to use it. when your computer starts, simply boot into linux instead of windows. then you can use linux. it's as easy as that. or do you mean "how to install"?

just as you download any other stuff. go to the homepage of a (preferebly major) linux distribution and klick download. a pop-up window may appear depending on you OS/browser/setting &c asking you where to save the file. choose directory on a filesystem that has enough space. Click "save" and you are downloading the GNU/Linux operating system. Linux is only a kernel... but forget that for now.

hope it helps,
cheers
