Using Fetchmail to get Gmail Emails into ~/Mails/inbox?

Hello,

I would like to know whether it is possible to
fetch the emails of gmail to a given directory?

If yes, could you please recommend an interesting
configuration .fechmailrc?

Fetchmailrc and its configuration is particularly tricky.

thank you in advance

You've been a member long enough now to know that shouldn't keep you from showing us what you actually tried.

Personally I use Getmail and a config for Gmail is a simple as
Code:
[retriever]
type = SimpleIMAPSSLRetriever
server = imap.gmail.whatever
username = user
password = pass

[destination]
type = Mboxrd
path = /some/path/some.mbox

[options]
verbose = 0

I have used getmail4 and offlineimap. both work.

However I have looked for a new alternative since my current machine has NOT python. yeap.
Getmail4 and offlineimap are both python based.

I have either to use gcc, libs to code myself something or look another solution.
I came to fetchmail which is basically coded in C(*).

...
(till now, after using fetchmail several years too, I do think that you cannot retrieve the imap gmail inbox to your local dir with fetchmail)
but getmail4 and offlineimap (python based) yes.

well, still unsolved till now.

(I need portability )

(It seems that I will have to code sthg to avoid using python)

It kind of helps to put all your requirements in the first post and I'm sure searching The-Site-Formerly-Known-As-Freshmeat, Sourceforge, Savannah.nongnu, Berlioz, Googlecode will yield IMAP tools written in C(*).
