using dd to burn windows iso
 
Happy Turkey day everyone

This is probably a dumb question, but can you use dd to put a windows OS to boot usb?

I've done it with linux iso, but wasn't sure there was a problem with the different filesystems.

dd does not care about filesystems. Another question is whether Windows wants to boot from USB.

dd will move a LIVE hibred iso image to a usb

but it will not move a normal installer

use K3B and "burn as image"

I presume you are asking about putting a Windows installer DVD on a USB stick. You can't just copy the ISO to the USB device. You have use a tool that is available from Microsoft, and yes, that means you will need a working version of Windows to run the tool.

ok, thanks for the reply, thats what i was trying to figure out. i dual boot fedora/win7, i am trying to stay in linux as much as possible. I can easily switch, but i was trying to do everything i can do in windows in linux.
