uhh.. roadrunner.. gaah...

I have personally spent 4x 20h configuration sessions to get internal adsl modem from roadrunner to work in linux. It had a binary only driver that was two times bigger than my whole kernel, segfaulted spontaniously, took most of the CPU power by just existing and so on. I ultimately got it working in 2.4.16; the driver was compiled in 2.4.15 system, worked in 2.4.16 and somewhat in 2.4.17, but not in 2.4.18 or newer.

Later there was a need to make an old pentium to do the routing in the home network and the card were supposed to be used in it. After a long fight it was found out that the card doesn't work on pentiums, because of some timing issue and having not enough cpu power.

To the makers of such hardware and agly software:
"Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matt. 22:13).

A little offtopic, but had to share my pain because of seeing a familiar manufacturer awakened some horrible memories.
