using Bittorrent to upgrade Slackware
I got the the torrent file from Slackware. How may I compile or run Bittorrent?
I have Slackware Linux. Thanks in advance! |
the .torrent file isn't the program, so you have to download the bittorrent client first

ok I downloaded the source code for bittorrent. Now how do I compile or run it?
Thanks in advance! |
Actually if You have the 3rd Slack 10 cd, there is a /extra directory, containing usefull programs, like K3b and bittorent. In slackware you install a *.tgz package with the command: installpkg, in case you don't know it.

I only got the first 2 CD's for slackware. I downloaded bittorrent at this site. Where it say's 3.9.1 I downloaded "source code".

I would advise you to download this:
http://www.slackware.com/pb/download...3.4.2-noarch-1 But if you still want to proceed with the one you downloaded raed this from lq tutorials section: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ticle&artid=15 |
Ok I downloaded the package. And installed bittorrent. How may I run it and download slackware?
Thanks in advance! |
Sorry for not replying. Did you manage to download slackware? I never used bittorent in linux, but it shouldn't be so hard. Download the header file of slackware and read the manpage. There is a small Readme file in the folder of the bittorent package:ftp://ftp.ntua.gr/pub/linux/slackwar...torrent/README. I live in Athens and use the ntua (National Technical Univercity of Athens) mirror you see above to download linux distros, which has a good bandwith, at least for me.
