User Profiles Question

I'm running SuSe 9.0 on an IBM 600E laptop. My question is this, can I set it so that User "A" is running DHCP with a proxy server for Internet browsing, while User "B" has a static IP, with defined DNS servers and no proxy?

This way, I could log in using a separate user account for work and at home.

That would be quite a hassle to implement
that way, and ugly, because your users would
have to be able to modify system files in /etc

What I've done on my machine is to add a
lilo menu entry that does nothing but set
one environment variable LOCATION, which
I then evaluate from my network startup script,
switching between DHCP and Static from there,
and copy a matching /etc/resolv.conf into place.

Cheers,
Tink
