A simple ePerson LDIF entry resembles the following example:

dn: cn=John Doe, ou=Rochester, o=IBM, c=US
objectclass: person
objectclass: inetOrgPerson
objectclass: top
objectclass: organizationalPerson
objectclass: ePerson
cn: John Doe
sn: Doe
uid: jdoe
userpassword: secretpass

You can save it under a file called people.ldif
and run the command:

ldapadd -x -W -D "cn=Directory Manager" -f ~/people.ldif

Thanks for your reply. I am new to Linux (6 month). I am configuring Samab server. I need to assign the user from LDAP server(blue page) as Samba user to give the ACL for a Folder, which will be accessed by a local windows XP client.

I tried to add the user to my Local Redhat server. But gives error "Invalid credentials (49)". I need to know which password is used when it prmpts "Enter Password"

Thanks

To make the user in remote LDAP server to be used to authenticate Local Linux server, is it required to add openldap server to local Linux server? If it is required hoe to configured.

Thanks.
