Used YAST (SUSE 10.0) first time, Octave setup

Hello,
Got the mirrors set up finally so that Yast went through setting up Octave (???). No errors, various links and configurations were done. Do I now have a .exe file? If so, I searched for it and only came up with the original folder where I manually downloaded Octave before I recieved advice that YAST might do all of this for me.

I probably just misunderstood. Do I still need to compile Octave?

If you installed through YaST then you almost definitely installed it as a pre-compiled binary (an .rpm as opposed to a .srpm).

What I can't say, is whether it's appeared in your menu list somewhere. Though you should be able to start it from a terminal. Dunno what the command would be, but how about trying "octave" (no quotation marks) as a start and see if it "fires up"!
