Use Belkin USB port as Media server

Yes, of course I'm a Newby. I connected to my Belkin via ethernet chord, and Linux connected successfully. I am attempting to use the router USB port and USB storage to transfer media from my Windows computer to the Linux Desktop. Is this a viable method, and are there any recommendations? How do I view and copy the files from the router media port?

Welcome to linuxqueations.

We need to know the model number of your router. Reading its manual should provide some insight. I would guess that at minimum it has windows networking aka samba and a ftp server.

What distribution are you running? The easiest way to access the router is from your file browser.

Thanks. I was able to figure out how to connect to the Windows Share server.

1. Select Places/Home
2. Select File/Connect to Server
3. Select the Windows Share typer
4. Enter the router IP address in the Server cell
5. After window opened, I added the server folder to my Bookmarks.
