USB problems at startup

Hello, it seems that everytime I try to startup linux, my USB card seems to hold things up. I'm running kernel 2.4.22-2f through Yellow Dog and the error I get is "USB HC takeover failed!" and it repeats it for an eternity. I was just figurin I could slap on a nice kernel argument to ignore the USB card (cuz I really dont use it during linux), but I dont know what to type for the argument.

Add the option nousb to your configuration for that kernel in the bootloader whether grub or lilo.
