USB problem installing Suse 10.1

An trying to install 10.1 on a new Dell Dimension 9200. However, I cannot proceed past the first screen as the keyboard and mouse do not work so I cannot select "Istallation". Accordingly the computer boots from the hard drive and I get MS Vista. I have done some research and learned about USB Legacy Support but my machine does not have this facility (confirmed by Dell). I have also tried the suggestion of holding down the shift key while Suse is booting, but after two text screens it reverts to the original where I cannot make selections. There are only USB ports on the computer so I cannot use a PS2 keyboard. Is there a way round this? Would using a USB to PS2 adaptor work?

Many thanks

JD

I would try a few current version of Linux. Even Suse is releasing the 4th alpha version of 10.3.

I would have a go at the current version of Ubuntu, Slax and Puppy.
