Smile Usb pmount debian

I start from zero and install Debian from a netinstall cd, everything goes well except that when I want to plugin a usb or a usbHD debian doesn't let me see what was inside, so I install pmount and tried again, wihtout no positive results. I only can when I am a root.
I have seen a lots of diferent solutions on the web, so I decided to get a really specializaed help.

Thanks, Emilio

Err... can you give a little more info? Where are you mounting it to? What filesystem? Is it encrypted? Output from the related line from `mount`? Any errors when mounting? Dmesg? What error do you get when reading the file as non-root? What are the permissions of the file you're reading? Does the user have the permissions to read?

2.-When I see my /etc/fstab, it looks like:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).

Another results when I want to change permissions to my usb1:
root@alcaravea:/media/usb1# chmod 777 cerveza ventas.ods
chmod: no se puede acceder a «cerveza»: No existe el fichero o el directorio
chmod: no se puede acceder a «ventas.ods»: No existe el fichero o el directorio
