USB Mouse Stopped Working with 2.6.8.1

I just upgraded my Debian kernel from 2.4.27 to 2.6.8.1, and after I was finished my USB mouse no longer works, and I have absolutely no idea why. What are some things I should check?

Did you make sure that you compiled USB Mouse Support Into The Kernel? Going from 2.4.27 to 2.6.8.1 is a significant upgrade and requires you to reconfigure your kernel.
