FC2 uses a 2.6 kernel, RH9 uses a 2.4x. It's possible the 2.4x kernel doesn't have a driver for your touchpad but the 2.6x kernel being newer does.

Do you know who makes the touchpad in your laptop?

i thought this might be helpful.

touch pad plugged into ps/2 mouse port.

Alps electric Co.
driver details: Alps
driver date: 5/30/2002
driver version: 5.3.203.4

it's a mouse and a touchpad driver.

i have tried some settings in the BIOS but it didnt work. a friend of mine changed some settings in the bios since whenever he used to connect the USB mouse, his touchpad didnt work. but no luck in my case in linux.

suggestions??
