Which version of kernel or above does support usb harddrive install and boot !!!??
my pc's bios does not support usb boot !how should i do to make it boot from usb flash drive/hard drive ?
2.6 supports usb boot for sure, 2.4 probably, too. 2.2 - not sure, but it should be doable. The most important thing is to make your BIOS do it. Without this it won't work. Have you tried a BIOS upgrade? Maybe that's your solution?
If your bios won't support booting from a usb drive the kernel version of your distro doesn't matter, it's the bios that determines what get's booted from and what doesn't.
A bios upgrade may solve your problem if one is available and if it supports booting from a usb device.
