usb floppy

I've got a USB floppy drive on my computer, which I would like to get working in order to lessen my need for a windows partition on this computer. The drive is TEAC external usb floppydrive. Install a driver? Edit fstab and mount? What to do?

Plug it in and do

$ dmesg | tail

to see for usb device and partition recognition.

Once you see it...something like USB Floppy device: sda and a partition number (e.g. sda1)

either you can edit /etc/fstab or you can mount it using

mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/zip

I assume you have a fat32 partition on the floppy...replace it appropriately if otherwise.

Yea, I just edited the fstab. I was pretty sure that was how you do it but I wasn't sure if floppy drives were as simple to mount as other USB media. And guess what, after that, I configured my zip drive all by myself! I'm a big boy now!
