USB capture card for linux

I have a USB capture card from my windows machine but I lost my cd key to the software so I could run it on Crossover. Ununtuforums told me use kino but I cant get the program to recognize the usb capture card. How can I get it recognize it or is there any capture software like cheese for capture cards.

On the other hand there is this page. It's in French but even if you don't speak French you can see the instructions for editing and other commands.
