URL rewriting/Centos

Hello,

Im really new to linux. Im running an unmanaged VPS (no help from host)

Im trying to install a script that needs url rewriting enabled, how do I enable it?

Please keep in mind I am very new to this, but eager to learn.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi and welcome to LQ,

Assuming that yourVPS provider has enabled mod_rewrite and lets you use .htaccess, you have to create a file named .htaccess in your DocumentRoot directory containing "RewriteEngine on" followed by the Rewrite rules you want to use.

Regards
