"URGENT" help needed
 

hi i have installed SUSE 10.2 on my LG K1-2224A laptop but have no sound dose anybody no were i can find the drivers to fix the problem any help would be nice.LINUX looks better and runs faster than windows iam hooked :confused: :cry:

The man is trying to help you understand that you've got to ask a decent question in order to get a decent answer. "URGENT help needed" doesn't give anyone any idea what sort of problem you have. Everyone who posts answers to this site is a volunteer and each is interested in and skilled in different areas of Linux. I know that you think your problem is urgent, but the guy reading your title probably thinks you're such a dolt that it's not worth the effort to even bother trying to help. As a result, the very person who could probably help you the most probably hasn't even bothered to read your question. You'd get more and better better responses if you titled your thread with the problem definition, rather than stating that it's urgent.

well thanks for that so it looks like i will take the laptop back to the shop and get windows put back so you go have a nice day.

Try typing this in the terminal (as root):
Then just follow the steps. I never used SUSE, but this is what I had to do on my Slackware box.

To use the alsaconf command you need to be the root user. This is seperate from your normal user and is used for system administration. To switch to root, open a terminal and type su. It will ask for a password which you should have set when you first installed suse. After this just type alsaconf. I've forgotten exactly what comes up, but it will configure your soundcard to work.

Another possibility it to use yast, which is suse's menu for a lot of system administration. This should be in your menu somewhere. There might be something in here for configuring a sound card as well.
