"urgent"
i recently placed ubuntu 9.04 on my laptop because i was ripped off on a replacement for win xp pro sp3,which was on my dell latitude d610 when i bought it on ebay.my original OS became corrupted, something about a hal.dll. file missing.anyway i bought a replacement os on ebay,it activated, but would not validate.three nights later,it crashed, something about a system32 file missing.i tried to repair & reinstall, but to no avail.there was an error,"could not read disc".so i installed (with no problem)ubuntu.this is not my first experience with the system,a couple of months ago i downloaded this same os through the wubi installer.however, the install was within windows and the performance was not as good (my hard drive was 55% fragmented),and could not get it defragged any better.anyway,my main question is how can i get my dell 720 photo printer to work? i am having problems with downloads(not knowing which program to open with).it took me 4 times to upgrade Firefox to the latest version. i need my printer. also,i recently ordered a Freespire version of Linux.it says to have the XP fell to it. any truth to it? thank you for having me abroad.
